Real Madrid received bad news very early in the season. During the 2-0 victory against Athletic Club on the opening day of LaLiga 2023/24, Eder Militão suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. A few days ago, Thibaut Courtois suffered the same injury.
“After the tests carried out on our player Éder Militão, he has been diagnosed with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee. The player will undergo surgery in the coming days,” the club from the Spanish capital reported in a statement.

Militão will be out between 6 and 8 months
It was 50 minutes into the game when the Brazilian, while stalking Sancet, suffered a strange twist in his knee that immediately caused him pain. His reaction suggested that it could be something serious, since he had to leave the field in tears along with the team doctors.
Carlo Ancelotti was concerned in the post-match press conference, although his prognosis did not expect the worst: “It’s a knee sprain, it doesn’t look good. We will evaluate in the next few hours. It cannot be ruled out that it is a serious injury.”
Militão will be out for between six and eight months, so he will miss a large part of the season. Madrid has not yet defined whether it will look for a replacement, although it is possible that it will keep its current options: David Alaba, Rüdiger and Nacho Fernández.
