After 16 years, the Brazilian Women’s National Team is in the Olympic final. The last time was in 2008, when Brazil finished in second place. Base coaches Rosana Augusto and Simone Jatobá are silver medalists and celebrated another final for the Amarelinha at the Olympic Games.
Rosana, who is now the coach of the U-20 Women’s National Team, defended the Brazilian National Team for 18 years. She not only won the silver medal at the Beijing Olympics in 2008 but also at the Athens Olympics in 2004.

“I am very happy because Brazil will step onto the podium with a silver medal already guaranteed, but obviously, we are chasing the gold that has never been won. I believe the Brazilian National Team arrives as favorites, especially because of the way they reached the final. The girls started out doubted but then played two outstanding matches against great teams,” she said.
This Saturday, Brazil will face the United States at 12 PM (Brasília time) at the Parc des Princes, in search of the unprecedented Olympic gold medal. To reach the final, the team defeated France, the host nation, and Spain, the current World Cup champions, in the knockout stage.
Simone is the coach of the U-17 and U-15 Women’s National Teams. She also has an Olympic medal on her resume, having been part of the Brazil team in 2008.
“I am extremely happy to see our National Team reaching an Olympic final after 16 years. I had the honor of being present in Beijing, where we won the silver, and today, as a base coach, it is a great pride to see athletes with so much potential arriving at the main team and standing out as starters. It is exciting to witness this new generation with the chance to achieve gold, a grand achievement for the sport in our country and essential for the growth and strengthening of women’s football in Brazil. Good luck, girls!”
Both coaches were vice-world champions with the National Team at the 2007 World Cup in China. Today, they pass all their knowledge to the young Brazilian athletes.
