In a ceremony marked by emotion and recognition, Queen Marta, number 10 of the Brazilian women’s team and Orlando Pride (USA), received a tribute from FIFA for her brilliant career.
However, what caught our attention was the player’s revelation about her future plans. At 37 years old, about to celebrate her birthday on February 19, Marta expressed her desire to compete in another edition of the Olympics, in July, in Paris.
The Brazilian star, during the FIFA The Best ceremony, was moved when talking about her aspirations and the recognition she received from football’s highest entity. FIFA announced the creation of “The Best Marta” award for the most beautiful goal of the year in women’s football, a tribute to the athlete’s extraordinary career.

What did Marta say?
“I leave here very motivated, I want to play in the Olympics once again, and after that we will find the answers, whether I will continue or stop”, said Marta, leaving suspense in the air about what the future holds for her in the world of soccer.
During a special appearance on Sportv, which broadcasted the ceremony, the number 10 shirt reiterated the uncertainty about his professional destiny.
“This year will be essential for me to have an idea of what I want to do. When the season ends, I’ll have some answers for what I don’t have now. Given my age, a lot of people have retired me a few times”, joked the player, showing lightness in the face of the moment of decision that is approaching.
Next steps
Marta, who has played for the Orlando Pride since 2017, will begin the new season of the National Women’s Soccer League (NWSL) in March, which will run until November with the playoffs.
The athlete will have a challenging calendar ahead of her, culminating in the Paris Olympic Games in August, where she hopes to be called up to represent Brazil for the sixth time in the competition.
The player highlighted that, if called up, it will be for the moment and not just for history. “If I go to the national team, it’s not because of my name or because of my history, but because of the moment, because in reality, those who have to be in the national team are the best at the moment”, emphasized Marta.
