In the 1-0 victory against Canada, the Brazilian Women’s National Team put into practice the first adjustments proposed by coach Arthur Elias. Marta started the match as a starter and, at the end of the game, stated that she was satisfied with the new coach’s work.
“The definition now is joy! Return to playing with joy and without fear of being happy. It’s too early to say whether it will work or not, but I think the proposal is very good and we have to believe it. Just like today’s game, we had several situations in which we could have scored a goal in the first half and we were unable to take advantage. But we believed until the end and managed to score the goal almost in the last play of the match.”

The number 10 expressed all her experience by reinforcing that believing is always necessary and this is one of the pillars of Arthur Elias’ work that she believes in.
“We have to believe! I think this word is very much alive in our daily lives, because Arthur came up with this proposal of ‘let’s believe it will work’. It’s a new cycle, it’s a new job. Everyone here has the chance to play in the Olympics and we need to take advantage of the moment.”
Finally, Marta highlighted that every moment with Amarelinha must be enjoyed. The attacker left an invitation for the next friendly, against Canada again, and stated that the objective is victory.
“Maybe we have the same reasons several times, but the moment never comes back. I still have the same reason as when I started, but the moments I experienced in the previous teams won’t come back. So we have to take advantage and this is the moment now. I think we’re off to a good start, we have another great game against Canada next Tuesday so we can return to our homes and our families with 100% positivity.”
The Women’s Team returns to the field on Tuesday (31), at 7:30 pm (Brasília time), in Halifax (CAN), for another friendly against Canada.
