Marquinhos revealed that he had a meeting with the president of the CBF (Brazilian Football Confederation), Ednaldo Rodrigues, to discuss the choice of the next coach of Brazil. During a press conference, the defender said that the question of whether to wait until 2024 or not had already been discussed during this encounter which was held in Barcelona.

Marquinhos, one of the leaders of the Brazilian national team, stressed that he is ready to collaborate and help in the preparation of the team, but that the final decision rests with the president of the CBF. He explained: “We give ideas, but the decision is up to him.” He also added that it was important to respect the president’s decision-making process and follow his strategy.

Regarding the coach’s name, Marquinhos avoided making specific comments, saying the CBF president had a plan to follow in the negotiations. He stressed that as a player he could not force anything and that his responsibility was to focus on the games ahead.

Marquinhos also addressed the issue of racism during the press conference, expressing his pain over this phenomenon happening all over the world. He stressed the importance of fighting discrimination and working together for a better society.

“It’s not a theme for Spain or Brazil, it’s for the whole world. Cameras often do not catch these situations that occur frequently. We were sad, but it’s not just a fight for him (in reference to Vinicius Jr.), it’s for all of us. We have to fight day by day so that society can move forward,” he declared.
