In the 44th minute of the second half, Marquinhos anticipated the Peru defense and scored the winning goal for the Brazilian Men’s Main Team by 1-0, in the early hours of this Wednesday (13), at the National Stadium of Lima, in the Peruvian capital. The defender’s goal guaranteed Canarinho‘s second triumph in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and their 100% success rate so far.
After the match, the defender, who is one of Brazil’s leaders, highlighted the team’s fighting spirit in the 90 minutes and valued the performance of the Brazilian defense, which did not concede goals, despite the opponents’ unfavorable atmosphere.
“I think this will be the face of the Seleção. We have a very aggressive game, the teacher insists a lot on that. At the same time, it was very good that we didn’t concede a goal in the match. We have to get the result, regardless of the way the opponent plays. Today it was a dead ball, which no one imagined, but that’s where the game is defined too”, he said.

He also celebrated the fact that he was back wearing the Amarelinha. Called up for the 2022 Qatar World Cup, the striker suffered a knee injury in the match against Cameroon, valid for the last round of the group stage of the World Cup.
“I’m very happy to be here again. Now, (I’m) well recovered from my knee”, he celebrated.
