Santos and Sport played out to an interesting six-goal thriller in Vila Belmiro on Saturday night.
Santos bagged two early goals in the first half with one coming from the penalty spot.
Sport weren’t going down without a fight and replied back with two goals to level matters going into the break.
Both sides started the second half with full intensity to score and regain the lead. After trials from both sides, Santos took the lead again in the 71st minute and then sealed the victory with another goal from a penalty in the 82nd minute. The game ended 4-2 in favor of Pexie.
Santos’ goals were scored by Marinho, Soltedo, Bruninho and Lucas Braga while Marquinhos and Leandro Barca reduced the deficit for Sport.
With the result, Sport continue their bad run of form in the Brasileirão and it’s no surprise they are in the relegation zone conversations. They can only boast of one victory and two draws in their last 10 games in the competition. They find themselves just one point ahead of Vasco but they could go even further below following the completion of fixtures for this round.
For Santos, it seems them return to winning ways after a loss to Athletico-PR last weekend.
Santos are now up to 37 points and moved to 5th position. Sport remain in 16th place with 25 points at the moment but that could all change as earlier mentioned.
For their next outing, Santos will welcome Palmeiras to Vila Belmiro while Sport travel to Morumbi to take on São Paulo the same day.
