The trio of Vinicius Junior, Marcelo and Casemiro were all on the pitch as Real Madrid closed the gap on capital rivals Atletico Madrid.
Los Blancos have been plagued with injury struggles of late and they currently have as much as 13 players on the treatment table.
In the absence of key players like Sergio Ramos, Fede Valverde, Dani Carvajal and Lucas Vazquez, goals from Karim Benzema and Ferland Mendy was enough to seal the victory for Zinedine Zidane’s men.
Coincidentally, two Brazilian players had a hand in both goals. Vinicius Junior was the creator for the first as his pin-point cross found Benzema who headed home for his 11th La Liga goal of the season.
Minutes later, Ferland Mendy doubled Real Madrid’s advantage with a brilliant goal following a good team effort and a cross from Marcelo.
Elsewhere, Casemiro also had a good game in midfield and quietly went about his business as usual. The midfielder, alongside Marcelo and Vinicus are all in the running to win the Samba Gold award. The winner will be announced later this month.
Rodrygo, who is also on the sidelines for Real Madrid, is also among the nominees for the prestigious award mentioned above.
As Real Madrid continue to battle a current injury crisis, it could benefit some players as they would be afforded more game-time. One of the best benefactors of this could be Vinicius Junior who could get more minutes under his belt.
Since the injury to Eden Hazard, the 20-year-old has started Real Madrid’s last two games and he is also in line to start again against Valencia on Sunday.
