Girona’s spectacular season wouldn’t be the same without their Brazilians. Savinho and Yan Couto have been the offensive mainstays of the Catalan team in a season where nobody expected anything from them, proving that they have what it takes to be champions.

Both players are generating a lot of international interest, and in the case of Yan Couto, this interest is said to come from some of the biggest teams in the world, such as Real Madrid, PSG, and some Premier League clubs. Therefore, Manchester City, the club that owns his contract, is very interested in securing his contract to prevent a free transfer this summer.

According to journalist Ekrem Konur, Manchester City is already taking the first steps to renew the contract of the 21-year-old Brazilian born in Curitiba, as his current deal will expire this summer.

Yan Couto has been with Manchester City since the summer of 2020, when the Citizens paid around 6.00 million euros to Curitiba for his services. That same summer, he was loaned to Girona, had a brief loan spell at Braga in 2021, and repeated the loan at Girona in 2022 and 2023.

This season, Couto has already scored one goal and provided seven assists in 20 games played and has been one of the standout offensive weapons for Girona despite being a right-back.

Faced with interest from teams like Real Madrid, Manchester City does not want Couto to leave on a free transfer, so their efforts are focused on renewing his contract and perhaps offering him the opportunity to shine at Pep Guardiola’s English team.
