Luis Suarez left Gremio after leaving an indelible mark, thanks to a season in which he led the club to the runner-up position in the Brasileirao, securing qualification for the 2024 Libertadores. The Uruguayan scored 17 goals and 11 assists in 33 league games, having previously won the Campeonato Gaúcho and the Recopa Gaúcha.
Not only did he receive love from Tricolor supporters but also from other teams, as Lucho acknowledged in a social media post to bid farewell to the Brazilian football community. “To all of Brazilian football: thank you,” Suarez wrote.

Suarez’s message to the Brazilian football community
“Thank you for the affection, for looking beyond the jersey, for the respect in every stadium. Big hug,” he added. His future is uncertain, but everything points to him joining Inter Miami in MLS to reunite with his friend Lionel Messi and other former FC Barcelona teammates such as Jordi Alba and Sergio Busquets.

“I am enjoying a beautiful moment,” Suarez continued on his post, followed by a one-minute video in which he’s seen giving his jersey to fans of different teams he faced during his time in Brazil. The footage also shows supporters from clubs such as Botafogo, Flamengo, Sao Paulo, and Palmeiras praising Suarez’s game.
“That’s the beauty of football, that the opposing fans know how to recognize the work; it gives me a lot of pride. I am enjoying a beautiful moment,” he concluded.
