Many of the best players of the year were born abroad. Luis Suarez is perhaps the best example of this. The Uruguayan striker joined Gremio in January but it didn’t take him long to settle in. The Best XI of 2023 Brasileirao with foreign players
With 17 goals in 33 matches, “Lucho” was the second-highest scorer of the tournament, only behind Paulinho, who scored 20 for Atletico Mineiro. Additionally, Suarez led in assists alongside Hulk. The 36-year-old veteran forward, however, is not the only Uruguayan who made the cut: fellow countrymen Sergio Rochet (Inter), Joaquin Piquerez (Palmeiras), Mauricio Lemos (Atletico Mineiro), and Giorgian De Arrascaeta (Flamengo) also made the team.
Other notable names include Ecuadorian defender Robert Arboleda of Sao Paulo, Colombian star Jhon Arias, who shone for Fluminense, and Pablo Vegetti, who was crucial in Vasco da Gama’s survival despite joining the club halfway through the tournament.
