Luís Suárez bids farewell to his teammate

As soon as the news of Juan Izquierdo’s death began to circulate, various clubs and professionals from the football world expressed their condolences to the player’s family.

Luis Suárez, from Inter Miami, was one of the players who lamented the incident. In a post on Instagram, the striker expressed his pain and sadness, wishing strength to the defender’s family and friends.

El Pistolero and Juan Izquierdo were teammates at Nacional, Uruguay, in 2022.

“Pain, sadness, difficult to explain. May he rest in peace, and much strength to his family and friends,” Suárez posted.

Considered by many fans to be the greatest football player in the history of Uruguay, Suárez began his career at Nacional, the club that Izquierdo represented.

The striker returned to the Decano in 2022 and was a teammate of the defender. The 27-year-old player suffered a sudden illness during the match against São Paulo last Thursday (22) in the round of 16 of the Libertadores.
