Tottenham Hotspur scored three late goals in the second half to see off Wycombe Wanderers 4-1 in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Monday night.
In a much changed XI named by Jose Mourinho, Brazilian duo Lucas Moura and Carlos Vinicius were deployed in attack on the evening. The duo were also recently nominated for the latest edition of the prestigious Samba de Ouro award.
Tottenham were widely expected to win but Wycombe Wanderers looked like they were set to stage an upset.
Mourinho’s men were stunned when the Championship side broke the deadlock before the half our mark after Fred Onyedinma tucked in a loose ball that took a deflection off Spurs centre-back defender Davinson Sanchez and went past Joe Hart into the net.
However, Spurs drew level minutes before the break as Gareth Bale directed a ball into the net from close range after a lofted pass from Lucas Moura.
With the match looking primed for a stalemate, Jose Mourinho made a string of changes that saw Pierre-Emile Hojberg come on in place of Japhet Tanganga right after the break and Harry Kane in place of Brazilian forward Carlos Vinicius.
In the 86th minute, Harry Winks completed the comeback for Spurs when he fired home from the edge of the box after a rebound came back to his path. There was more to come for Spurs and especially for midfielder Tanguy Ndombele later on. The midfielder grabbed a goal barely a minute after Harry Winks and then got his second of the night in the final minute of the game to cap a convincing 4-1 win for the north London side.
