Ferroviária opened the scoring just after six minutes after Sochor capitalized on an error from goalkeeper Tapia to give the Brazilian side the lead.
The Colombians soon grew into the game and got a deserved equalizer in the 39th minute after Catalina Usme converted from the spot.
However, the lead did not last long minutes as Aline Milene restored Ferroviária’s lead three minutes later, also from the penalty spot.
In the final stages of the game, América threatened badly and even hit the cross twice in search of an equalizer. The Grenás Warriors were able to withstand pressure and hold on to their lead to be crowned champions. It was the second triumph in the club’s history. Their first win came back in 2015 when they won the tournament in Colombia.
There is history for Ferroviária boss Lindsay Camila as well after becoming the first woman to win the competition as a coach. Even more impressive is the fact that she achieved this feat in her Libertadores debut with the club.
Following the latest triumph, Brazilian sides have won nine out of the 12 total times the competition has taken place. São José-SP are the biggest winners, with three triumphs to their name. Ferroviária have two titles, the same with Santos and Corinthians.

With their win, Ferroviária will also be guaranteed a spot in the next edition of the Libertadores, which is set to take place at the end of the year in Chile. The other two Brazilian representatives will be decided from the women’s Brazilian Championship.
The Grenás Warriors will return to action again on the 18th of April when they begin their Brazilian Championship campaign with a game against Palmeiras.
