Flamengo and Palmeiras, the only ones who smiled in the Libertadores

Flamengo and Palmeiras were the only Brazilian teams still in the Libertadores who won this week. Bruno Henrique’s header gave Mengao the edge against Olimpia of Paraguay at the Maracana, while Raphael Veiga secured the victory for Verdao against Atletico Mineiro in Belo Horizonte.

Fluminense’s match gave a lot to talk about during the week, but not because of the 1-1 draw itself. Marcelo saw the red card for accidentally breaking Luciano Sanchez’s leg in one of the ugliest injuries football fans can remember.

Athletico Paranaense suffered a huge blow in their trip to Bolivia, having lost 3-1 to Bolivar in La Paz. Internacional had taken the lead against River Plate in Buenos Aires thanks to Enner Valencia, but the Argentine champions turned things around.
