Flamengo and Palmeiras, the only ones who smiled in the Libertadores
Flamengo and Palmeiras were the only Brazilian teams still in the Libertadores who won this week. Bruno Henrique’s header gave Mengao the edge against Olimpia of Paraguay at the Maracana, while Raphael Veiga secured the victory for Verdao against Atletico Mineiro in Belo Horizonte.
Fluminense’s match gave a lot to talk about during the week, but not because of the 1-1 draw itself. Marcelo saw the red card for accidentally breaking Luciano Sanchez’s leg in one of the ugliest injuries football fans can remember.

Fortaleza, Corinthians and Botafogo get the victory in Sudamericana
Fortaleza needed just one goal to beat Libertad in Paraguay. In Brasil, Corinthians came from behind to beat Newell’s ahead of the rematch in Argentina, where Goiás were destroyed by Estudiantes in La Plata the day before Sao Paulo lost to San Lorenzo in Buenos Aires.
In Río de Janeiro, Tiquinho Soares gave Botafogo a dramatic win over Guaraní from the penalty spot. América Mineiro and Bragantino left things wide open in their series with a 1-1 draw in Belo Horizonte.
