Palmeiras said goodbye to Libertadores 2023 this Thursday (05). After drawing 1-1 with Boca Juniors, at Allianz Parque, Verdão were beaten on penalties and ended their participation in the current edition of the international tournament – the first meeting between the teams, in Argentina, ended with the score 0 to 0.
Raphael Veiga and Gustavo Gómez lost their kicks to defenses of Sergio Romero and, despite Weverton defending Cavani’s, it was not enough for the Brazilian team. During regular time, Boca opened the scoresheet with the Uruguayan, whilst Piquerez was able to draw the match during the second half.

Bad record
Palmeiras’ loss shows a bad record of the team against Boca Juniors. The Xeneize took the Brazilian’s out of the competition for the fourth time – they were eliminated five years ago and in 2001 and lost the title in 2000.
Now, Boca will face Fluminense in the final of Copa Libertadores, at the Maracanã stadium, in November 4th.
Alviverde‘s next match takes place on Sunday (08), at 4pm (Brasília time), against Santos, at Arena Barueri, in Barueri (SP), for the 26th round of the Brazilian Championship.
