The Women’s Brazilian National Team continues to prepare to face Canada in two friendlies. In addition to analyzing the opponents, full-back Antonia and goalkeeper Letícia Izidoro spoke this Wednesday (25) about the team’s new style of play and the next goals with Amarelinha.
Brazil enters the field next Saturday (28). It will be the first match after the World Cup. Antonia believes that the team is ready to surprise Canada.
“Canada is a team that defends itself very well. We had difficulty penetrating their defense, but Arthur comes with a very strong attacking line, movement, having a lot of people in the attack. It will be a different style even for the Canadians, who are not used to playing in the style we are going to propose.”

Game style
Antonia usually plays as a winger, but she is a very versatile athlete. With the arrival of Arthur Elias, the player revealed that she also feels comfortable playing as a defender. She reinforced that her priority is to help the team regardless of position.
“Being able to have more than one role has been a good thing for me. I feel comfortable and I believe I’m capable of doing both roles. Of course, as a full-back I play a lot more at my club, so it’s more natural. But I believe that I’m there to help and whatever scheme he puts me in, I’ll be able to help the team in the best way.”
Goalkeeper Letícia has been managed by Arthur for a long time, both of whom played for Corinthians in recent years. At the coach’s request, the player usually plays further forward. The goalkeeper confirmed that she intends to maintain the same style of play in the Brazilian team.
“With Arthur Elias and this committee, I will once again participate more with my feet in the construction of games and getting out of pressure. I believe that for me it is a little calmer due to the fact that I have been working with Arthur for many years and we come evolving a lot with this work of playing up front, to work on coverage and be able to get out of pressure. Let’s go back to working more with the ball at our feet.”
Next goals
Arthur Elias took charge of the Seleção in September and his challenge is to prepare the team to compete in the Paris 2024 Olympic Games. The coach always reinforces that his objective is victory and has already started to implement his thinking among the players.
“We are at the beginning of our work. There is a little bit of time to prepare for the Olympics, but a good time. These friendlies will be very important for us to see the beginning of his work and see what he can propose differently for our Selection.”, said Letícia.
“I believe that anyone’s mentality, especially him as a leader, has to be about winning, it has to be about winning the title. We have to aim for big things. It’s obvious that there is a process and what will happen changes a lot. But the This mentality has to be that. We have to keep in mind that we are capable of winning, of succeeding. This mentality will make the work flow a lot”, said Antonia.
