Striker Kerolin, from North Carolina, made football history by being the first Brazilian elected as “Most Valuable Player” in the American Women’s Soccer League, the NWSL.

At 23, she competed with other big names in international football, including her position colleague Debinha from Kansas City and Americans Sophia Smith, Sam Coffey and Naomi Girma.

“It’s a dream come true! I’m very happy to be able to make history outside my country and leave a legacy for Brazilian football, and bring a little more recognition and respect to Brazil.”

“It’s very special and rewarding to share this moment with my teammates, who played a fundamental role in this achievement. Although the award is individual, collective work is what helped me win the MVP title. I would also like to thank everyone who voted for me to make this possible.”

In her second season in the NWSL, Kerolin stood out as her team’s second-leading scorer, with ten goals, behind only Portland Thorns’ Sophia Smith. The previous year, she had already been selected for the championship’s B team.

In addition to her achievements in the United States, Kerolin also plays an important role on the Women’s National Team. The striker participated in the 2023 World Cup and was a key part of the team that won the Copa América in 2022. She also has a history of success in the youth categories of women’s football in Brazil, including victory in the 2018 South American Championship.

Despite her young age, Kerolin is an experienced player, having defended the colors of important clubs in Brazilian football, such as Corinthians and Palmeiras. Furthermore, she accumulated international experience playing for Madrid CFF, in Spain.
