The forward has played 43 matches for Brazil and came on in the second half against Spain to extend the score.

“What was really cool was that, at all times in the locker room, they kept telling us, ‘get ready, go in because you will change the game, you will score.’ We trusted those words, stayed united, and made it to the final,” she stated.

Gabi Portilho was on the field for the entire match. The forward scored her second goal in the Olympic Games; her first was in the victory over France in the quarterfinals.

“From the beginning of the competition, we faced tough opponents. We played against very strong teams that are ranked above us in FIFA, but we kept advancing. Now we are in the final against the United States. We beat France at home, we defeated Spain, the current world champions, and we showed our strength; we are capable,” Portilho said.

The Brazilian National Team will face the United States in the Olympic final next Saturday (10) at 12 PM at the Parc des Princes in Paris. Gabi Portilho projected the match against the Americans.

“We will go into this final as giants. We know the quality of the United States team, but we also know what we are capable of. Marta will be back, and it will be beautiful and historic,” she concluded.
