Strikers Kauã Elias and Rayan are in the fight for top scorer in the U17 World Cup. After the Brazilian National Team beat New Caledonia 9-0, this Tuesday (14), in which the duo contributed with five goals, they confirmed themselves as contenders for the World Cup top scorer award. In two matches, they have scored three goals each and have competition from Mamadou Doumbia, from Mali, and Idrissa Gueye, from Senegal.
In the Under-17 World Cup, the duo seeks to repeat the double of titles achieved in the South American Under-17 in April this year, a competition in which they finished as top scorers, with five goals, and champions of the tournament for Brazil.

Against New Caledonia, Kauã Elias was disenchanted in the competition and found the net three times, all in the second half. The number 9 was chosen as the best player of the match and celebrated the team’s match with a view to playing against their next opponent: England.
“Very happy, of course, for the goals, but also for the team. We played one of our best games because we needed to score goals. I think it was very important, this is the result of our work in training. Now we remain firm to face England and come out victorious too”, said the Fluminense striker.
Rayan, who had scored in Brazil’s debut against Iran, scored two goals in this Tuesday’s match. He admitted that he wants to be a top scorer, but he seeks to help the Brazilian team above all else.
“I’m happy with the two goals. I’ll think, yes, about the artillery, but firstly help the team. We’re more confident now. It’s about thinking about the game against England and, God willing, qualifying,” said the Vasco player .
Brazil faces England in the last match of the group stage of the U17 World Cup this Friday (17), at 9 am (Brasília time), at the International Stadium in Jakarta, Indonesia. The duel between the last two U17 world champions – Brazil in 2019 and England in 2017.
