In the previous match, Kauã scored a hat-trick in the rout against New Caledonia. He explained what training is like so that he can always be well placed and take advantage of opportunities.

“It’s about trying to be in the right space, not running around wrong. Because there will always be a ball left and I will be in the right place at the right time. It’s part of the training we do, looking for empty spaces to improve our finishing and score a goal.”

Nine minutes into the second half, Da Mata took advantage of a great cross from Esquerdinha and headed it into the back of the net, extending Brazil’s lead. England would still close the gap in the match, but the Brazilian team defended the result and secured second place in Group C.

The defender praised the unity of the team, which has the dream of winning the fifth Under-17 world championship.

“I think the most important thing was the unity of our group when it came to running, attacking and scoring. We have the expectation (of being champion). We played three good games, despite one defeat. We are very confident and, above all, united, regardless of anything.”
