The responsibility of the armband
For Danilo, being the captain of the Brazilian national team goes far beyond wearing the armband on the field.
“It’s the realization of a dream, no doubt, but it’s a responsibility. Wearing the armband of the most important team in the world and Juventus means dedicating time and energy for the good of the team, often at the expense of personal moments,” he stated.
He emphasized that the role of captain involves leading both on and off the field, dedicating himself to his teammates and the issues that impact the team.
Looking to the future
Although he is committed to Juventus until 2025, Danilo did not rule out the possibility of returning to Brazil, with Flamengo and Santos as priorities.
“My whole family are Flamengo fans, it’s crazy. Every time Flamengo has a game, it’s a barbecue to watch the game. I have a sister-in-law who cries when talking about Flamengo,” he shared.
Danilo is planning the next years of his career carefully, stating that he does not intend to play until very late, but if he decides to return to Brazil, Flamengo and Santos will be his first options.
Facing the transition
With the Brazilian national team going through a transition, Danilo believes it is essential to be open to new ideas and changes, but also to maintain what has worked well.
“Life is made of changes, and it’s important to find a balance between what can be useful and what needs to be changed. Dorival has done this very well, as well as the other athletes who continue from the previous cycles,” he said.
Danilo highlighted the need for a fair division of responsibilities, something that, according to him, was lacking at times in the past.
