With arrival in Brazil scheduled for Tuesday, the 28-year-old defender has agreed to terminate his contract with Monaco and will be free to sign with Timão until the middle of next year.
For this to be possible, Corinthians agreed to pay Monaco a compensatory amount. The value is around R $ 4.5 million (700 thousand euros).
This amount will be used for Monaco to settle financial issues with the player, who will receive a low salary at Corinthians.
Because of this, Corinthians and Jemerson representatives will sit down at the table again to negotiate in the middle of next year if the club decides to keep the player. The new agreement, already with a new presidency, should have values and salaries compatible with its status.
If they do decide to sign this new contract in June 2021, Monaco will be entitled to 20% of a future transfer.
Jemerson arrives in Brazil on Tuesday to perform medical examinations and sign a contract. For nine months without playing for the French team, he will undergo a few weeks of adaptation before he can play.
Last Sunday, the player published a photo on his Instagram account showing that his suitcase was ready to travel.
The defender will be Timão’s 12th reinforcement for the season. Before him, Luan, Sidcley, Cantillo, Davó, Yony González (later returned to Benfica), Éderson, Jô, Léo Natel, Otero, Cazares and Fábio Santos have all been brought in as well.
Corinthians next take on America-MG in the second leg of the Copa do Brasil round of 16 on Thursday.
