Brazilian Jair Tavares is experiencing, according to the player himself, the best season in his entire career. The 29-year-old midfielder is one of the leaders in terms of “participation in goals+assists” in the Romanian Superliga (the country’s first division) and with the assist made last weekend, he equaled the mark of 10 goals+assists in 2021, the greatest he ever had in his career, when he was still playing for HJK, in Finland, when he scored 10 goals. The athlete spoke about this moment.

“I’m very happy to be able to equal this mark with so many games in hand. This shows how much I’ve been able to improve in recent years playing in Europe. I am more than prepared to increase these numbers further this season and be able to create a new personal record that I can try to beat next season”, said the athlete.

With 20 games in the current season, all as a starter, the midfielder trained in Ituano’s youth categories has an average of 0.5 direct participation in goals per game. He is the 10 best athlete in the league in this regard. In 2021, a season in which the athlete was also very prominent, the player needed 35 games to reach the same number, however, in that opportunity there were 10 goals scored and no assists made.

That was the season in which the Brazilian played the most in his entire career. Coincidentally, the player also played the same number of games in the 2022/2023 season, his first for FC Petrolul, in Romania. He is currently in his second season for the club and said he also hopes to break this record.

“My personal goal is to play as many games as possible and surpass my best appearances tally in a single season. Of course, also helping my team with a lot of goals and assists, in addition to the minutes on the field. I want to show everyone how focused and prepared I am for increasingly greater challenges”, he concluded.
