Roberto Carlos is highly praised as one of the top left backs of all time. Today (10), is his 50th birthday and Sambafoot brings you three times he impressed the whole football world.

The impossible free kick against France in 1997

This is probably the most iconic moment from the Brazilian. The national squad was awarded a foul from very far away and the left back placed the ball gently before distancing himself to take the kick, going almost to the midfield. When he struck it, however, the curve was so great that it is popular called ‘the best free kick of all time’.
