Colorado did not take much time to wrap up the game, with the two goals coming from Edenílson and Thiago Galhardo. The latter came from the penalty spot. The win was Inter’s fourth consecutive victory in the competition while Vasco remains winless in eight games.
In the first half, Inter were all over their opponents, having possession of the ball and exchanging passes.
They caused trouble for the away side from the start of the match to the finish. Thiago Galhardo and Abel Hernández had a scoring chance in the early stage of the game but it was Edenílson who opened up the scoring in the 25th minute of the match assisted by Galhardo.
In the 39th minute, Inter were awarded a penalty coming from a Galhardo foul in the goal area committed by Leandro Castán. The forward himself stood up to the task and scored making it 2-0 to Inter before the break.
In the second half, Vasco showed another attitude in the game different to that of the first half. This was mostly because Inter reduced its pace and momentum. The game became more balanced making Cruz-Maltino to be more present offensively. Inter came close to adding to the pile, even after Vasco stepped up their game. Two wonderful saves from Fernando Miguel saw him stop shots from Galhardo and Edenílson who were hungry for more goals of the day.
Colorado held on and ended the game with another victory.
Both teams return to the field midweek. Colorado visits Universidad Católica in Chile on Thursday for the last game of the Libertadores group stage. Vasco hosts Corinthians for the 18th round of the Brasileirão on Wednesday evening.
