Internacional came out on top ahead of Botafogo on Saturday night in a game that marked the 25th round of the Brasilerao. Inter claimed a comeback 2-1 win in Beira Rio and the result was relief for Abel Braga’s side and saw them win after a number of games without tasting victory.
It was Botafogo who opened the scoring in the 27th minute after Pedro Raul connected well with Jose Welison’s pin-point cross. It didn’t take long for Inter to level matters as Patrick fired home from a rebound to tie the scores in the 36th minute.
The first half ended in a 1-1 stalemate.
In the 69th minute of the second half, Inter completed the comeback via a goal from Yuri Alberto. The goal was initially ruled out by the referee but after a VAR review, it was re-instated and that goal proved to be the all-important winner.
The result is a huge sigh of relief for Inter who were on a run of seven games without a win. They are up to 41 points and have broken their terrible run. It is an opposite story for Botafogo who remain rooted to the bottom of the table with 20 points and have lost their last seven league games in succession.
For their next outing, Inter will take to the pitch next Saturday against Palmeiras at home. Both sides are on 41 points and that game would surely play a big part on how the top four of the table would look like after next week. Botafogo will also take on Coritiba next Saturday.
