Shakhtar Donestk were in the game for the majority of its duration but were undone by Inter Milan’s superior efficiency in front of goal.

If you did not watch the game, you can make the assumption that it was a stroll in the park for Inter Milan.

Despite the 5-0 scoreline, the Ukrainians were in the game but their inability to make anything of their possession cost them the fixture.

Inter started the match as favorites and it was evident with their 69% possession by the 10th-minute mark. The tide changed after it as Shakhtar began to boss possession.

However, it was the Italians who got on the scoreboard with their first shot on target. Lautaro Martinez latched on to Nicolo Barella’s pass to get on the scoreboard.

It was more of the same in the second half. Shakhtar kept possession and Inter kept their shape. The Nerazzurri would add to their tally from a breakaway corner kick.

Marcelo Brozovic swung in the cross which was met by Danilo D’Ambrosio. D’Ambrosio had won the corner in the first place and plunged the ball into the back of the net.

It was the Romelu Lukaku show after it. Inter got more into the game and created dangerous opportunities.

The Belgian’s pass freed Martinez who curled one to score his second of the night. It was the Argentine’s first in Europa League.

It was then Lukaku chance to get on the scoreboard. He had managed goals in nine successive Europa League games and did not disappoint in his tenth. Lautaro Martinez gave the assist.

The Belgian would go on to make it 5-0 six minutes later.

Inter will now have to battle with Europa League specialists Sevilla on Friday in a quest for silverware.
