On Sunday (18), news circulated about Al-Rayyan"s interest in Artur Jorge, the Botafogo coach, with whom he has a two-year contract.

According to reports, the Qatari team had already established informal contact between the parties.

Still on Sunday, the Botafogo coach decided to be open about the interest from the Arab football. According to Artur Jorge, his focus is on his work at Alvinegro.

"Just like the players, my work is also valued through wins and qualifications. It’s natural for there to be interest, but I’m completely focused and happy at Botafogo."

Artur Jorge at Botafogo

Artur joined Botafogo in April and has a two-year contract. Eagle Football, John Textor"s sports company, proposed a project for the Portuguese to become coach of Lyon after his time at Glorioso.

However, financial factors may weigh in, as clubs in Qatar often try to convince professionals to move with astronomical salaries.

For the classic match, Artur Jorge chose not to rest players against Flamengo and won 4-1. Even while competing in the Libertadores and seeking a spot in the quarter-finals against Palmeiras next Wednesday (21), the coach opted to go with what he considers his starting lineup.

"I didn’t consider Botafogo today with maximum strength. I always think about a team to win one game at a time, understanding that each game has its importance. […] Of course (about repeating the team in the next game)," said the coach.
