The world’s largest youth tournament, IberCup will be played in a double edition in Brazil this July to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the competition. Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo will host the event, which will have Diego Ribas, former player of Flamengo, Santos and the Brazilian National Team, as a godfather.

Starting on July 15 in the Marvelous City and July 22 in São Paulo, IberCup will feature the participation of the country’s top clubs and teams from Latin America. Diego Ribas is confirmed to attend both events to accompany matches and give a lecture to athletes, their families, and technical committees.

“I am very happy with the opportunity to be the godfather of IberCup Brazil 2024, which is one of the most prestigious youth football tournaments in the world. I will be there not only to support the young athletes, but also to share my experiences and learnings throughout my career, as well as talk about dedication and the values that sport teaches us,” said Diego Ribas.

In total, adding the two editions, the competition will have the presence of more than 400 teams from all over the country and 5,000 athletes competing in the U-8 to U-14 categories for men and women. Flamengo, Vasco, Botafogo, Fluminense, Santos, Corinthians, Palmeiras, Cruzeiro and Red Bull Bragantino will be some of the main forces present in the tournament.

“This edition will be very special as we celebrate 15 years and have Diego Ribas as a godfather. Our main goal is to provide a unique experience not only in terms of competition, but also in cultural exchange and personal development. Many technical observers will be present at the tournament, making it a showcase for the athletes,” said IberCup Brazil CEO, Márcio Lima.

According to the organization, the competition this year is expected to receive a record number of spectators in the two editions. To this end, it will be a challenge and a great opportunity to be able to offer a differentiated experience to the public and entertainment options for all ages during the duration of the event.

“We are prepared to receive a record number of participants this year. We want to ensure that all those involved, from the players to the coaches and families, have an exceptional experience. We are looking forward to seeing the talents that will emerge from this tournament and, who knows, discover future football stars. Above all, we hope that everyone will have fun, learn and grow through this incredible opportunity that is IberCup Brazil,” he concluded.
