On Friday (16), Al Ahli, featuring defender Roger Ibañez, will play their first match in 2024. After the year-end break and preseason period, the Brazilian’s team will resume the Saudi League 23/24 against Al Akhdoud at 2 p.m.
“I was already missing the matches, but it was also a good time to recharge energies and for the team to prepare well for the second half of the season. We have been having a great campaign and are fighting for top positions in the table,” analyzed Ibañez.

In his first season in Saudi Arabia, the defender is an important piece of the team, currently in third place in the national competition, having played in 18 out of 19 league matches and scoring two goals.
“I am very satisfied and happy here. It has been a great experience, my adaptation was quick, I managed to understand the style of play well, and I believe that this semester will be even better,” commented the number 3.
At 25 years old, Ibañez was at Roma before moving to Al Ahli. In Italy, he stood out in finals, won the Conference League title, and received a call-up to the Brazilian national team. In Saudi Arabia, the defender has also been called up to represent Brazil on two occasions under former coach Fernando Diniz.
