A new Women’s World Cup begins tomorrow (20) as Brazil tries to capture its first star on the tournament. Things have not being easy for the national team as they were runner-ups in 2007 and third place in 1999. In 2019, the team lost very early in the competition.
In that edition, the Brazilian National Team finished in 10th place, after falling in the round of 16 to France on a defeat by 2-1.

How was it?
In the tournament four years ago, which had the French as hosts, Brazil was third in Group C.
In three matches, led by coach Oswaldo Alvarez (known as Vadão), they won two games in the initial phase – 3-0 against Jamaica and 1-0 against Italy. In addition, the team lost to Australia by 3 to 2.
With the results, Brazil was third, with six points, going ahead. In the round of 16, in a tough game decided in extra time, Brazil ended up succumbing to the hosts by 2-1.
Striker Cristiane ended up as the team’s top scorer, with four goals. Attacking midfielder Marta scored twice. Thaísa scored a goal.
A month after the elimination, on July 22, 2019, the CBF decided to dismiss Vadão. This would be the coach’s last professional job, who, on May 25, 2020, would die from complications of liver cancer.
This was also the last participation of Formiga on a World Cup. She is the second player with most matches in the tournament.
