Has Brazil ever been an Olympic champion in women’s football?

The Brazilian women’s national team has never been an Olympic champion. On two occasions, they came close, finishing with silver.

In Athens 2004 and Beijing 2008, they were defeated by the United States in overtime. In the first, the score was 2-1, and in the second, it was 1-0.

Now, they face the United States for the third time in an Olympic final.

Forward Cristiane is the top scorer for the Brazilian women’s national team in Olympic Games history. She has scored 14 goals in the tournament.

In second place is forward Marta, who has one goal less than Cristiane, with 13 goals, and could surpass this mark in 2024.

Pretinha, with eight goals, completes Brazil’s podium of top scorers in the history of the women’s Olympic tournament.
