Fact or fiction?
Neymar, now under contract with the Saudi club Al-Hilal, reportedly proposed to return to Barcelona, the club where he shone for four seasons, from 2013 to 2017. According to information from the Spanish press, particularly from the media Sports, the Brazilian winger approached Barça’s sporting management, hoping to take advantage of the club’s active search for a new left winger. Barcelona, looking for reinforcements on this flank, has explored several options, including that of Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao.

Hans Flick closes the door on Neymar
However, despite Neymar’s apparent interest in a return to Catalonia, FC Barcelona coach Hansi Flick has reportedly categorically rejected this possibility. According to the Catalan media Jijantes, Flick believes that Neymar does not fit into the tactical scheme he wants to implement for his team.
This decision thus puts an end to any speculation about the Brazilian returning in the blaugrana colors. In recent days, social media, particularly Twitter (X), had been buzzing about this news. And even though several media outlets reported it, it could just be a rumor at the end of the transfer window.
To recall, Neymar left Barcelona in 2017 to join Paris Saint-Germain after his release clause of 222 million euros was activated, marking one of the most high-profile transfers in football history. Despite his successes in Spain, his return to Barcelona now seems impossible, and the Catalan club continues to explore other avenues to strengthen its attack.
With Flick at the helm, Barça is looking to build a team in line with his vision, and it is clear that Neymar is no longer part of that equation.
On the side of Al-Hilal, they must be pleased with this news.
