Guilherme Arana gave a press conference on Monday (10) and celebrated the good phase that led him to return to the Brazilian National Team. The Olympic champion in 2020, the left-back is one of the highlights of Atlético-MG this season and has established himself as one of the best in his position in the country.

Before going to the National Team, Arana is the owner of the position and was a starter in 23 of the 26 Atlético matches this year. He scored three goals and provided six assists.

“I’m living an excellent moment and that generates a lot of confidence. I hope to do here what I do in my club to establish myself and return,” he celebrated.

A starter in the 3-2 victory against Mexico on Saturday (8), he analyzed the match and highlighted the team’s commitment to achieving the victory.

“Against Mexico, we started the match well. Then, there was a lack of cohesion, the weather was very hot, but with organization and patience to fight for the result until the end, we were successful,” he recalled.

He was away from the pitch for nine months due to a ligament injury in his knee. At the time of the injury, the full-back dreamed of being called up for the last World Cup. Today, Arana disputes a place in the team with Wendell and sees this competition with his teammate as “healthy”, for the benefit of the best for the Brazilian National Team.

“It’s a healthy competition, everyone wants their space and there is a brotherhood off the field. Everyone respects each other, gets along very well, and we are here to raise the level of the National Team. Regardless of who plays, everyone needs to be prepared,” he said.

Remembering Zagallo

Sambafoot Series launched a new documentary about the football legend Zagallo. Known as ‘Velho Lobo‘ and as superstitious as it gets, Zagallo helped shape what Brazilian football is nowadays — as a player and as a coach.
