For the first time in a while, in the 9th round of the Brasileirão, Grêmio were the more dominant side in most part of the game. The team from Rio Grande do Sul got their goals from Alisson and Darlan to get all the three points, which is their first in a long period.
Before the game, Mano Menezes was presented at the stadium as the new coach of the Bahia team.
Bahia in the first half had a better game than Grêmio and created great chances to score but Juninho and Gilberto wasted all the chances they got. Alisson on the other hand took his chance on his first try in the first half and didn’t lose the chance of putting his team in the lead. His shot hit the post and went in opening the scoring for his side.
The goal gave Renato Gaúcho’s team the confidence moving forward, created more chances but failed to capitalize.
In the second half, after Gilberto missed another great chance in the opening minutes, Grêmio added to their goal tally but being efficient in front of the goal, with a great move by Alisson laying off Darlan with a great assist.
Tricolor Gaucho got a little scared when Matheus Henrique was sent off in the game, but things were even up later on when Gregore also received the marching orders to even out the pressure in the game.
Gremio now moves to 10th place with 11 points although they have a game in hand. Bahia remains in 15th place and just a point above the relegation zone.
Bahia will host Atlético-GO this Sunday. On the same day, Grêmio receives Fortaleza at home.
