This Wednesday night, the 25th, was Grêmio on the field, to face Flamengo, in the game valid for the 29th round of the Brazilian Championship. Looking for three points in the competition, Tricolor beat the Rio team by a score of 3 to 2, with goals scored by Ferreira, Nathan Fernandes and André Henrique, in the complementary stage. Everton Cebolinha and Luiz Araújo scored for the opponents.
With the result, coach Renato Portaluppi’s team has three points and occupies 6th place in the competition table, with 47. This was Tite’s first defeat at the Rubro Negro command.
The match started off busy, with both teams trying to impose their rhythm. The first chance came from the opposing side, with Gerson, who sent it over the goal, without success. Immediately, Tricolor responded in kind, with a strong shot from Villasanti, but Rossi made the save.
When the clock hit 13 minutes, Flamengo had a chance with a free kick from midfield, close to the half-moon of the penalty area – De Arrascaeta shot low and Gabriel Grando fell to make the save. But Grêmio didn’t take long to react to Rio’s attack and created a good move soon after. First, Reinaldo served JP Galvão, who crossed low into the small area, but no one arrived to complete it. Then, the attacker tried to head the ball away, but sent it over the goal.

From midway through the first half, both teams were unable to create many clear scoring opportunities, a result of the balance of the game. Grêmio continued trying to reach the attacking field and at 31′, they had a chance at a dead ball. Pepê took a free kick from the right midfielder, placing the ball in the area – the defense cut it and, on the rebound, Galdino sent it from afar, but very high. Soon after, Lucas Besozzi tried to finish from the left, but the ball went to the left of the goal.
Flamengo managed to open the scoring in the final stretch of the opening half, in the 41st minute, when Everton Cebolinha received the ball on the left, invaded the area and cut the mark, shooting hard and achieving success.
The second half started off disputed. Grêmio tried to threaten with JP Galvão, deflecting a cross from the left and also with a shot from João Pedro from outside the area, which forced Rossi to make the save in two halves, around the 10th minute. The Rio team also arrived in danger and did not score due to Gabriel Grando’s great save, when Pablo deflected a corner kick from De Arrascaeta.
It was in the 30th minute that Grêmio managed to score an equalizer with Ferreira. The striker worked with Villasanti, invaded the area and shot firmly, filling the opponent’s net and leaving everything the same in the Arena.
And the turning point came from the feet of Nathan Fernandes, five minutes later. F. Cristaldo beat the marking and rolled backwards, finding the attacker, who shot low across the field to score Grêmio’s second goal.
And there was also the third tricolor goal, in the final stretch of the match: Reinaldo took a throw-in, triggering Villasanti, who headed the ball away and André Henrique shot hard into Rossi’s corner. The ball hit the post and went in.
Flamengo managed to take advantage of Luiz Araújo, at 43′, but it didn’t change the result: Grêmio’s victory at the Arena.
