While Rio Grande do Sul is still recovering from the severe consequences of the floods that affected the region at the beginning of May, both Grêmio and Internacional are ready to make their return to the pitch after a month without action. However, they will do so away from home.

The Colorado, whose last match was on April 28 (1-1 against Atlético Goianiense in the Brasileirão), will return to the field on Tuesday, May 28, when they host Belgrano at the Arena Barueri (São Paulo) for the CONMEBOL Sudamericana.

Meanwhile, the Tricolor Gaúcho, who have not played since April 30 (0-0 against Operário in the first leg of the third round of the Copa do Brasil), will move their matches to the Estádio Couto Pereira in Curitiba, where they will play their first game since the catastrophe in Rio Grande do Sul on Wednesday, May 29, against The Strongest for the CONMEBOL Libertadores.

Renato Portaluppi’s team will also play their two remaining home matches in the continental tournament at the same venue, as well as the league match against Bragantino. They will be closer to home for the match against Botafogo on June 16, when they play at the Alfredo Jaconi in Caxias do Sul, Rio Grande do Sul.

That stadium will also host Inter’s second match since the floods in Porto Alegre, when Eduardo Coudet’s team faces Delfín in the Sudamericana. The Colorado will then travel to Criciúma, where they will use the Heriberto Hulse stadium to host São Paulo.

The venue for the following games is yet to be determined, while the club is planning to return to Beira-Rio by mid-July at the earliest or mid-August as a more likely date.
