The Brazilian manager had only been in charge of the club for 38 days after taking over from Ney Franco. In that time, Larghi’s record at Goiás reads three initial defeats followed by two draws (against Coritiba and Ceará) and one victory (against the then leader of Serie A Internacional).
Goiás released a statement on their website announcing details of the manager’s termination.
“Goiás Esporte Clube informs that, after a meeting held on Monday, it was decided that Thiago Larghi will not continue as coach of the professional football team. Goiás thanks the coach and his commission for the work provided and for the professionalism shown throughout the entire experience at the club, and wishes the professionals luck in future projects.
“Thiago Larghi took over Goiás after Ney Franco left. Altogether there were 6 games, 3 defeats, 2 draws and one victory.”
“The club continues on the market in search of a new technical commission to take over the team.”
In a statement after the announcement, Larghi thanked the players, members of the coaching staff and fans and regretted the lack of reinforcements in his management.
The manager stressed that since his arrival, only right-back Edílson has been hired. According to the coach, the board was aware that to achieve the goals outlined by the club would require the arrival of more players.

The coach also stated that he indicated several players who are playing in Serie A and B of the Brazilian Championship.
In the Brasileirão so far, Goiás have played nine games and have only won two. With nine points so far,
Verdão find themselves in 19th place and rooted in the relegation zone with Bahia. The club needs an immediate response immediately.
