Goiás and Vasco settled for a draw this Sunday night as both teams goes eight games without winning in the Brazilian Championship. Léo Matos opened the scoring for the Cruz de Malta team in the 17th minute of the first half while Shaylon waited till the 57th minute to draw level for the home side.
With the draw, Vasco overtook Bragantino and Coritiba and moved up to 16th place leaving the relegation zone temporarily with 19 points while Goiás with 12 points, remains at the bottom of the log, seven points away from safety.
Léo Matos re-joined Brazilian football after being out for more than ten years playing in European football. The right back showed his character and was a good add to the team. His goal was scored in the 17th minute putting his side in the lead at the break.
Goiás had lot of shot taken at the opposition goal and finally got the breakthrough in the 57th minute when Shaylon took an audacious shot to put his side level. The game was somewhat balanced between both sides with the home side slightly being the better team.
The game ended in a draw with both teams settling for a point apiece.
In the next round, Goiás will visit Sao Paulo in Morumbí on Saturday while Vasco will receive Palmeiras in São Januário on Sunday. But before that, they will face Caracas on Wednesday in Venezuela for the return leg of the 2nd phase of the South American Championship.
Referee Igor Junio Benevenuto showed 12 yellow cards during the game. Five Goiás players were carded, while seven Vasco were cautioned also. Yago Pikachu who was in the technical area was also shown the card.
