Gabriel Jesus was on the score-sheet as Manchester City continued their recent dominance in Europe.
The Manchester outfit are just about the most in-form side in Europe as it stands. Pep Guardiola’s men extended their winning streak to 19 games with a 2-0 win over German side Borussia Monchengladbach in the Champions League.
Bernardo Silva gave City the lead just before half time after heading home a cross from Cancelo.
In the second half, Brazilian forward Gabriel Jesus also got in on the goals after Bernardo Silva directed a cross from Cancelo towards him to fire home.
It was the ninth goal for the Brazilian in all competitions this term, his second in the Champions League.
With Aguero struggling with fitness and injury concerns this season, Jesus has seen ample game-time and recently got praise from Pep Guardiola.
“He was incredible at Anfield in the locker room when he didn’t play. He was incredibly supportive to his mates.” Pep recently said after City beat Liverpool 4-1 in the Premier League.
“When a guy is like this he is so supportive to the other ones.
“When he plays, he always plays good. It’s important for strikers to score. He was brilliant, really brilliant.”
For Ederson in goal, it was a quiet evening for him and yet another clean-sheet to his name. In fact, the goalkeeper did not make a save until the last kick of the game. He is yet to concede a goal in over 600+ minutes for Manchester City in the Champions League.
As one would expect, Ederson and Jesus are well in contention to win the Samba Gold award, with the winner of the prestigious award soon to be announced. There is still time to vote for either of both players.
