Palmeiras has intensified negotiations to sign Gabigol, offering the striker a salary of over R$ 2 million per month and a five-year contract.

However, the transfer of the Flamengo player still faces significant obstacles. According to journalist Jorge Nicola, Palmeiras is seeking to sign Gabigol without any financial compensation to Flamengo.

Palmeiras wants Gabigol in this transfer window

In his blog on the R7 portal, journalist Jorge Nicola revealed a conversation he had with a source linked to Palmeiras’ management.

“Gabigol has about R$ 18 million to receive from Flamengo until December, including salaries, image rights, and bonuses. Palmeiras’ proposal is for Flamengo to get rid of this cost and release the player for free,” explains a Palmeiras source.

To ensure that Gabigol does not suffer any financial losses, Palmeiras has committed to paying 30% of this amount, spread out over the five-year contract, according to the journalist.

Flamengo does not want to release Gabi for free

Flamengo, however, has no intention of releasing Gabigol for free. President Rodolfo Landim maintains a firm stance on the matter.

Gabigol’s contract with the Red-and-Black ends on December 31, allowing the striker to sign a pre-contract as of last Monday. If there is no agreement with Flamengo, Gabigol would only become a Palmeiras reinforcement in 2025.

In addition to Palmeiras, Gabigol has attracted the interest of other clubs. Recently, he received a salary offer of R$ 2 million per month from Santos, and he was also sounded out by Cruzeiro, Corinthians, Grêmio, and Bahia.

Palmeiras president Leila Pereira and coach Abel Ferreira are excited about the possibility of having Gabigol, who has become the biggest idol of Flamengo fans since 2019. Negotiations continue, but the outcome is still uncertain.
