The loss in the Copa Ouro final to the United States did not overshadow the good performance of the Brazilian National Team in the tournament. This is the assessment of Gabi Portilho, who said she was satisfied with what the team showed in the Gold Cup.

“I am very proud of everything we did in the competition. We are in a process, on a path, we played a lot in this final. There was a mistake, an error in their goal, we knew they were strong in aerial play, we let them cross and head. But I am very proud, we moved the ball, pressed for 90 minutes. Very positive balance,” said Gabi.

“We started slow, evolved, grew. We kept the ball, pressed, played the ball from side to side. It was just the beginning, we will improve more and more, work harder, improve what we do well,” Gabi Portilho continued.

Brazil reached the final with an undefeated campaign. The team led by Arthur Elias won all five matches until the showdown with the United States. In the group stage, the team defeated Puerto Rico and Colombia 1-0. In the last group stage match, the National Team thrashed Panama 5-0. Next, Arthur Elias’ team defeated Argentina 5-1 in the early knockout stage. In the semifinal, Brazil beat Mexico 3-0.

For the Corinthians player, the National Team arrives strong at the Paris Olympics exactly because of what they showed in the Gold Cup, with dedication, assimilating Arthur Elias’ tactical concepts.

“Brazil has a new look and we are going to Paris Olympics with a lot of motivation. We are going as giants to Paris.”
