When his time in European football seemed over, Willian reinvented himself after a surprising move to Fulham. At 34, the Brazilian stood out with five goals and six assists during the 2022-23 Premier League season, in which his team finished tenth.

After being released from Corinthians, the former Chelsea and Arsenal man managed to return to England by signing a one-year contract with the London entity. However, his level was so good that Craven Cottage would seek to offer him a renewal of his bond.

“Throughout the season I’ve been doing very well, regardless of the goals I’ve been producing a lot for the team, playing well, creating moves, giving passes to goal. This game was a reflection of what has been happening this season with me and the team as well, playing good games and always evolving,” he said in an exclusive interview to Sambafoot.

Willian could renew for a year

As reported by the British media London Evening Standard, Fulham would have offered the veteran Brazilian attacker one more year of contract. The terms would not be all that different from his previous deal, with a weekly salary of almost £50,000.

It would make sense for Willian to continue in London, a city that he has already known very well for years, and where he settled again in a great personal campaign with Fulham. Either way, it seems he has other options on the table as well, with interest from other European clubs as well as Saudi Arabia.
