In a shocking case, legendary Brazilian footballer Paulo Roberto Falcão is facing sexual assault allegations from a hotel receptionist in Santos. Although he categorically denies the accusations, Falcão has made the decision to resign from his position as sporting director at the Santos FC.

The alleged facts allegedly occurred on two occasions, where the victim, a 26-year-old young woman, claims that he had non-consensual contact with her.

The circumstances of the incident came to light thanks to the security cameras of the establishment, as revealed by the defense of the complainant, who took the case to the police authorities dealing with cases of domestic violence, family and sexual.

A witness, a housekeeper, also reportedly confirmed the harassment incident involving Falcão. Her lawyer, Pamela Mendes, said the defendant acted in the same way on two separate occasions, rubbing his genitals on the victim’s arm while she sat at her workstation.

Falcão denies despite his resignation

Faced with the seriousness of the accusation, Falcão took to social media to announce his resignation from his role as sporting director at Santos FC, a position he had held since November 2022.

“Out of respect for the fans of Santos FC… I have decided to leave the post of sports coordinator, effective today“, declared Falcão before denying the facts which are reproached to him:”I was shocked to learn from the media, I declare that this has never happened”. He concluded: “My intention, above all, is to protect the image of the institution.”

The charges could potentially carry sentences ranging from 1 to 5 years in prison, according to the Brazilian Penal Code.
