Jean Lucas, former Olympique Lyonnais player, found a new anchor in his career after the relegation of Santos to the Brazilian second division. Botafogo had initially expressed interest in the midfielder, but it was ultimately with Bahia that the 25-year-old decided to continue his footballing adventure.

Despite the obvious interest from Botafogo and the prospect of playing in the Copa Libertadores, Jean Lucas made the decision to commit to Bahia until 2028. The Brazilian club formalized the signing of the midfielder, without disclosing the amount of the transfer.

Indeed, after attracting Fernando Marçal, Rafael and Jeffinho, Botafogo had set its sights on a fourth player from Olympique Lyonnais to strengthen its squad. However, the Carioca team will have to make do with three former Lyonnais, since Jean Lucas has chosen to join Esporte Clube Bahia for the coming seasons.

A new challenge

At 25, Jean Lucas is preparing to discover his sixth club. After unsuccessful spells at Olympique Lyonnais and AS Monaco, the Brazilian midfielder will try to bounce back with Bahia, 16th in the last championship, but part of the City Group.

This decision comes after Santos’ descent to the Brazilian second division, a club he joined in 2023 just after his departure from France, and with whom he has 22 meetings.
