Former Corinthians, Cauê Santos shines at the beginning of his career at Benfica: “A film comes to mind”

Striker Cauê Santos, formerly of Corinthians, scored his first goals for Benfica. In a 4-1 victory away from home for the Portuguese B team, against Vilaverdense, he found the net on two occasions and was elected “Man of the Match”. This was the player’s second match with the Eagles shirt.

“Very happy to score in this shirt for the first time. I was well received by everyone at Benfica, I’ve been adapting in the best way possible and I’m ready to help my team. I want to thank the entire coaching staff and my teammates for all their support at the beginning of our journey together”, said Cauê.

Born in Guará, in the interior of São Paulo, Cauê is 20 years old and has spent time at the Novorizontino and Corinthians youth categories. For Timão’s professional team, he played 14 times and scored two goals. The highlight attracted the interest of the City Group, owners of several clubs around the world.

Thus, the striker left Brazil for Belgium to wear the shirt of Lommel SK, one of the group’s affiliates. For the Belgian team, 42 games were played and 17 goals were scored. Before his life as a professional athlete, Cauê worked in a bakery making deliveries on a bicycle.

“Of course, a movie comes to mind after all my efforts to get here. I am grateful to all the professionals who contributed in some way to wearing a heavy shirt in European football. I feel that in a way, everyone made this a personal achievement and I am very grateful”, adds the attacker.
