Known as “Toni Conceição”, the 62-year-old Portuguese coach and former Cameroon national team manager between 2019 and 2022, has been on the agenda in Brazilian football. With extensive experience as a coach and player, Conceição sees a good opportunity in Brazil and has partnered with a Brazilian businessman to try to find a spot in the national football scene, whether in a Serie A or Serie B club. The coach was even studied by clubs like Vasco and São Paulo.

Conceição, who holds a UEFA license and has a solid track record as a coach, expressed his enthusiasm for exploring opportunities in the Brazilian football scenario.

“I see it very positively and as an excellent possibility to coach a club in Brazil. We know it is a very strong and competitive market, in addition to having one of the best leagues in the world. It is certainly a gigantic attraction for coaches from all over the world,” said the coach.

As a player, António wore the shirts of SC Braga (1972-1980), FC Vizela (1980-1983) and Porto (1988-1992), being a National and Portuguese Cup champion, as well as representing the Portuguese national team. As a manager, he has worked for 14 different teams and the Cameroon national team, which was his last job.

The coach has six titles in his coaching career, being twice champion of the Portuguese second division, twice champion of the Romanian league and two Romanian Cup titles, in addition to winning the Romanian Super Cup. He also has three promotions to the Portuguese football elite and a bronze medal in the 2022 African Cup. The manager also brings with him a deep understanding of Brazilian football culture.

“I follow Brazilian football quite a bit and understand the culture of the sport here. It’s rivalry and emotion on the surface. A foreign coach who comes to Brazil to work has to understand that,” he emphasized.

Remembering Zagallo
