The game between Coritiba and Fluminense was an intriguing contest from start to finish. The match ended in a six-goal thriller which had both Paulista and Robson sent off in the last minute for each team. Coxa scored twice in the first half with Flu coming back twice to equalize twice in the second half.
Coritiba started at home the better side as they didn’t waste time to open up the scoring. Luizinho shot from outside the goal area after a lofted long pass from Moura Hugo in the 3rd minute. Flu immediately reacted to the goal but failed to meet the mark, before forcing another save from Wilson minutes later.
Moreira Milouski doubled the home side’s advantage some couple minutes later following a fast break with another Moura Hugo assist.
Fluminense coach Marcão brought in John Kennedy immediately after the break. It proved to be an inspired decision as the forward scored minutes later after taking a rebound back into the back of the net. Fred completed the comeback when he headed in Egidio‘s cross following a free kick in the 72nd minute.
However, Robson put Coxa back in the lead minutes later. A defensive mishap from Fluminense goal keeper Marcos allowed the striker to score. Paulista later equalized for the second time for the visitors at extra time. Flu had couple of other chances to finish the game with a win but Silva hit his shot too high and didn’t hit the mark.
The game ended in a little chaos as both teams saw red with Paulista and Robson sent off after a confrontation in the final minute of the game.
Coritiba sit in 18th position and will travel to face ‘struggling’ São Paulo in Morumbi on Saturday. Elsewhere, Fluminense are 7th on the log, five-points away from the top four and will host bottom-placed Botafogo on Sunday.
