Both goals came in the first 45 minutes of the game. Luiz Adriano registered the first goal of the game scoring for Verdão, while Evanílson made sure the team shared out the points with an equalizer.
With this result, Fluminense gets their first point in two games having lost their previous game.
While Alviverde, debutant also had a share of their first point in the competition. Palmeiras currently lie in 11th place while Fluminense find themselves two spots below at 13th position on the log standings.
The game started out slowly at Maracanã. Fluminense had more of the possession but failed to threaten their opposition goal. On the other hand, Palmeiras came with the idea to sit and put the ball on a counter waiting for an error from the home team.
Fred started for Fluminense on Wednesday, but only lasted the half hour mark on the pitch. He was taken off due to a pain he felt at the back of his thigh, and was replaced by Marcos Paulo. Without him, Evanílson was placed up front, playing closer to the goal, and was responsible for getting the point with a beautiful move. That took his goal tally to his seventh of the season so far.
Fluminense had more of the ball possession after the goal conceded, but failed to create chances the get the goals in. Fred’s departure, due to injury, caused changes in the attack. Evanílson was placed upfront and the result came with the equalizer, in the 38th minute.
Fluminense hosts Internacional on Sunday, at 6 pm (Brasília time), at Maracanã while Palmeiras take on Goiás, at 21h, in their arena in Saturday.
